Driving distance

Unread postby Moose » Sat Feb 08, 2020 10:19 am

Just thought it would be fun to see how far people drive to go hunting. I have i 6 spots within 20 miles. 3 are public 3 are private. Possibly 2 more if i get permission.

I don’t have anything under an hour and 15 minutes. I have routinely drove 2 hours and change each way. The driving gets old fast.

I'm lucky to have quite a few state game areas within 20 mins of me. I think 5 or 6 different ones. So thousands of acres within a short drive. I have one SGA 5 mins away, and two more 10 mins away. But I will say, some of the best "big buck" sign I have found so far was on public that is about 45 mins away.

20 minutes up to 1 hour covers most of it, but I have some spots up to two hours I hunt more sparingly. I also have a large piece 10 minutes I never hunt. I would like to move 30 minutes out of town to really ease my access to big bucks, but my better half will never go for it.

2 hours, plus/minus 15 minutes, to everywhere I hunt. Everywhere I fish, too. I’m two hours from everywhere it seems like. Makes for some long all day hunts and fishing trips.

Anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour and a half. Some public pieces and some private pieces.

3 minutes to my private farm and an hour and 10 minutes one way to the closest public. Next closest public is an hour and 20 minutes. They combine for about 200,000 acres so theres plenty of area. Theres a couple other public spots within an hour and half as well, just none under an hour...

5 minutes to an hour and a half. Might stretch that this season.

I’m branching out this year. Furthest spot will be about an hour and a half.
