Re: Help me better understand off season scouting
I watched that and it did help some. Makes sense that a buck would be bedding that far back, it’s safe and prolly very little human presence. I am going to go back and look it over again and look for browse and possibly a set up I could
Hang early season and one in the rut. Possibly to the idea of kayak down that creek and sneak in

I have hunted this area in the past. It is thick so It does hold deer, but there is also a lot of hunting pressure all season and that makes it very hard to kill a mature buck there. good luck.

I would black out all the names or you’ll lose your spot!! Lots of lurkers waiting for stuff like this...
I agree, I found it in less than 2 minutes. Dont do the work for other people.

Consumers energy in first pic. AND muddy creek.
Aerials are a great learning tool for everyone. But there are a lot of lurkers just waiting to capitalize on someone else’s hard work. Make sure to black everything out, rotate pics, etc
Google makes copping spots pretty simple.

Sometimes I black out everything and flip them upside down without saying so. You can get the same help and confuse the internet scouts at the same time. Win win.

A buddy of mine and I have hunted throughout most of the piece. Looks like u r on the right track revisit the spots u have picked out and if there is fresh sign hunt it.
Also the new edited maps u posted are much better. I have learned especially online to post only very generic info and pictures so u don’t destroy ur spots it’s hard enough as it is. And even if u don’t hunt a certain spot one year u may want to go back next year or the year after and try it. I think Most people just view these threads to learn and/or help and they r not
Out to steal ur spots but if the info is sitting there plain as day and it looks promising anybody would gladly accept it myself included
Ps careful in that “puddle” it gets deep lol

Thanks again! Yea when I posted I never did think about it that way,but it makes sense. And ok cool, I am planing to revisit soon and get a game plan. Yea I am looking for state land spots just to take pressure off my private farm land in Dundee. And I thought years ago that puddle was dried out. Like I said its been like 15 years and i was like 13 years old playing around back there building forts and what not lol

Re: Help me better understand off season scouting
I personally think the fact that it does not look "currently" heavy used is a huge plus. This typically means it was made earlier in the season BEFORE rut. there fore it is possibly a food based bed or a bed that buck frequently uses in his core area. If you found it now and it was still showing sign of heavily used it would most likely be a rut bed or a high pressured escape bed. Knowing this can arm you with info on WHEN to hunt it, which IME is just as important as finding it.

Re: Help me better understand off season scouting
Don’t worry too much about the hunting pressure. I’ve noticed that around my area it’s very cyclical. One year there will be trucks in a given parking lot every weekend, the next year it’s a ghost town and everyone is on a different area. That’s why it’s helpful to know multiple areas well and be able to adjust on the fly.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.
