Re: Glassers
What state and what type of terrain?
Im leaning towards the Meopta brand and staying in the $1000 range.
I did buy a cheap spotting scope and have been satisfied enough with it for my use around the midwest and the plains areas.

Re: Glassers
I just got a set of B2 Maven 9x45. So far I am super impressed with them. I have a pair of vortex razor uhd 12x50's also. I can't tell any difference between the two besides magnification. The mavens were a fair amount cheaper makes me wish I would of got the Maven 11 x 45's the first time around. Don't have a spotter yet but when I get one I think I am gonna get the kowa prominar 554 it is a 15-45 x 55 at 28 oz.

Missouri hill country and farmland. So I dont need to see past 500 yards often when glassing if that helps.

Re: Glassers
A highly recommended spotter for $500 is Atholon Ares. People compare it with $1000 spotters.
You don't have to be the best, just do your best.

Re: Glassers
I much prefer the eye relief of long range binos over a spotting scope in the Midwest. Don't need to see eight miles here.

Re: Glassers
Nikon Monarch HG
Zeiss Conquest
Leica Trinovid
Meopta MeoStar
Maven B1/B2
If you are going to spend less than $800, then I would take a look at the Maven C1.
I just got the Monarch HG 8x42 on a 35% off deal on LL Bean and they are awesome.

Re: Glassers
I use Styrka glass,,,, my 8 x 42 are great, they fit my eyes well. great warranty, lifetime, and for anyone that has them, etc. Have used their customer service, it was great...... lots of good glass out there, just find the kind that fits your eyes. Vortex is also excellent, but for me Styrka fit me better
I never would buy glass that I could not go out the door, and look thru it, at the time of purchase. Fortunately in Wisconsin and Michigan their are several hunting stores that will accommodate you.............. hard to look at glass, inside any store...........

Re: Glassers
Been happy with my vortex viper spotting scope. Also after buying a mount for my binocs to fit my window mount or tripod. I have really used my 12x50binocs more than the spotting scope for "from the truck scouting "
It only takes 15 seconds for the hunt of a lifetime.

Re: Glassers
I got a 20-60x85mm vortex razor spotting scope on sale last summer.
It’s clear enough I can count points at 400 yds and It gathers light well especially at the low end of the magnification.
It’s a bit on the heavy side and might be overkill depending on how far you are glassing.
There is better glass available but at the 1,000 price range I have been happy with it.
