For me it was a spike when I was 12 yrs old. Opening day of gun season, 7:30 am. Remington model 700 .243. 60 yd shot dropped him right there. The addiction began.

Re: How old were you when you shot your 1st deer?
I had just turned 8 when I shot my first deer. It was on public land and we had a huge group making drives. In the 80's you basically had sweat pants and or some other sort of cheap cotton clothing and maybe some sort of coveralls, at least us poor folks did. I know I didn't have hunting boots. I was mad cause I got freezing cold and was walking off. A deer comes crashing down through the woods and boom dad shot it right in the knuckle of the front shoulder, basically just shooting the leg off. It fell down and was sitting there with its head up. I ran over and sit on his knee and shot it in the neck killing it. I wasn't cold any more and I learned that day you can't leave the hunt if you are successful, so I got drug all around that mountain that day sitting with people while they made drives. It was a spike and I made them get it mounted for me I was so proud of it lol. I love deer drives and that is how we hunted back then. Where I am at right now though, I don't ever want to shoot at a moving deer again. 1 because of the margin for shot error and 2 because I can tell the difference eating one that was on high alert when it was killed. Dad had a heart attack at 45 and died in 2006, just making all those hunts with him all the more special. I will never forget the deer drives from his last season either. Its a shame he never got to know or hunt with his grandkids.

Re: How old were you when you shot your 1st deer?
I was 45 years old when I shot my first buck. It was the opening day of my first rifle season I ever hunted, and tagged a really nice typical 147 3/8" gross score mature deer. (the one on my profile pic) Truth is I just happened to be in the right place at the right time, on the only day I've ever hunted private land, while he was running around chasing does at 11am. I took my first doe about 2 months earlier on day two of my first season ever hunting deer. It was in a spot I thought would be a great spot to see a big buck, but then she showed up... It was only 4:30pm, and I was planning to pass on her to wait for mr big to come, but she stopped broadside at exactly 20 yards. I just watched her browsing, took a few pics of her, and just enjoyed the moment. Then she stopped again facing the other way at 20 yards perfect broadside... I still waited and watched... then the third she stopped exactly 20 yards perfectly broadside again. I figured she was begging for it, and I may not see another deer that evening, plus it was an area that allowed the use of doe tags, so I could still use my two any deer tags for hunting bucks. So that time I raised my bow and shot pass through just behind both shoulders. She went about 25 yards behind some brush and I heard her drop. It was awesome. For years I had wanted to get into hunting, and now that I have, I have become completely obsessed. Those are my only two deer I've taken, but I hope to have many more to come.

Started bowhunting when I was twelve - lived in KS at the time and I had to be 14 to hunt in KS so hunted in MO just over the river where you could start hunting at 12. Shot my first deer, a 1 antlered spike, at 10 yards with a 40 pound PSE on October 5, 1985.

I was 14, hunting with my uncle. We sat till around 9 not seeing anything we made a plan to do a couple small pushes. He set me on the first push and no more then hit out of sight when i heard something running behind me, i turned and looked and there was a small buck standing at 15 yards. I spun around and fired, the buck took off and made it 35 yards before piling up.

I was 27 - Got into deer hunting seriously when I was 20. Had a few close calls with the bow prior but could not seal the deal. It was a big old mountain doe, shot during gun season.

13 years old. Shot a 7 pointer with a bow. 35 lb compound with little 1816? aluminum arrows. Now 49, many deer but that first one is always awesome, and opening morning to boot.

7 years old. Was hunting wood ducks and tree rats along the bayou, had 2 3 inch slugs for my crack barrel .410.
First shot dropped the buck, old swamp stag and the second shot killed the doe.
Then I had to go home and get help to get them out because it was late December and freezing and they were in about 2 foot of water in the swamp when I shot them. Went back and my grandfather my uncle and my dad made me wade out to them in just my underwear with a rope so they could drag them in.
Learned a very very very valuable lesson that day lol wait for them to get to the bank lmao.

No way man - completely serious. That's when I started hunting... 36 or 37... Pretty sure it was 37.... Just a lot of dumb luck in a target-rich environment that is zone 11 in MA.

The 2007 New York Giants defense did NOT play on Offense. Therefore it is right to say Eli defeated the 07 Patriots

P.s. how old are you anyway ? Old Man...
