Re: Most days without seeing a mature buck?
When I first started I maybe saw one a yr usually. The last few years I'm been averaging around 6 in 25 to 30 sits with usually one or 2 solid shot opportunities a year

mature buck, i can go seasons between seeing one. i do usually see 1-2 good bucks a season. that's about 10 sits to see a 2-3 year old buck.

[quote="seazofcheeze"]In Michigan, I would go years between seeing them. I dont think I saw a 4.5+ until my 4th season and I'm counting cams, glassing, shining and hunting.
That’s what I’m saying! Although maybe I’ve called a 4.5 a 3.5. I kinda doubt it though, when you look at the harvest statistics it truly would be rare to sight a 4.5 yr old in the mitten. I did shoot an 8 that dressed over 200lbs long tines, heavy rack, only 14” wide. I was and still am thrilled with that buck but you would think a 4.5 would have more headgear. Cameras, shining, buck poles, hunting, local newspaper, and I still rarely see something that looks just a step above a 2.5 yr old buck.

I assume you just meant a mature shooter (big body, nice rack) and not literately 4.5+. If that’s the case I usually get a good look at one of those once every 2 years here in NH (40ish sits a year). I go to the mid-west every year and hunt public and I usually see 2 or 3 in 7-8 days.

Re: Most days without seeing a mature buck?
Since this site has opened my mind to Beast tactics I have at least one encounter with a shooter buck during the season in the last 4-5 seasons now. This season I have seen two mature bucks within a week. One buck I seen using beast tactics the other was basically covering my eyes and pointing to a spot to set up on map. I don’t count the amount of sits I do a season but probably safe to say averaging about 20-25 sits a season.

Yes I stated that in a post above. I would consider a 3 yr old a shooter in Southeast Nebraska.
