Bump and dump success!
Started out on a private farm I have permission to hunt for the opener gun season in ohio. Got in about an hour before light. About 20 minutes till sun up a few other hunter had rolled in toting the quads behind their cars. I have two spots where I know bucks like to cruise to and from their beds. The gentleman pulling the atv pulls his car in one area, gets out, starts his quad, leaves his headlights on and starts opening and closing doors. I hadn't realized the farmer had gave others permission to hunt this area as well. I was under the assumption it was my own spot.
So after a short time has passed I see a headlamp coming up the road, I thought it was an amish buggy but I heard to horse hoofs hitting the road and it was moving too slow. It was a trespasser entering my location spot number two for buck movement. At this point I'm getting disgusted. I hunted through sun up but knew my odds were low. I seen a few doe and nothing that resembled a buck. I knew it was time to move! I told myself were going back to public!
After studying a few aerial and topo maps I had zeroed in on two spots. Taking all factors into consideration and where I thought my odds would be the highest I made my way back into a hollow. Passing several hunters near easy access logging roads I walked easy and pushed on not to disturb their hunt. I got to my location and when I got there I came across fresh scrapes, fresh rubs, and best of all 4 does that busted me 40 yards up on a bench. I knew where I needed to be and set up. I climbed 50 yards up the hollow from the bottom and set up over the scrapes and over top where the does were. I found an old cherry tree that grew in a "u" shape and I sat in the crotch. I was in my stand by 930 and mr. Big rolled through at 1015. He cruised the ridge on the down wind side right where the does were. I let him make his way to the creek bottom and this presented me with a broadside shot. My 45-70 barked and my buck made it 20 yards and fell. Lessons learned. Dont be afraid to make a move! Scout scout hunt!

Re: Bump and dump success!
Great job! Some may have gotten disgusted and went home instead of pushing on and adjusting like you did. Great example!

Good job at not getting discouraged and sticking with it! Beautiful buck bro. You earned it.
