Shoot down a drone being used for scouting?
Had a guy flying a drone overhead on some public I was hunting Sunday.
I’m sure he was using it to scout/locate deer.
Only had slugs with me, if I had some buckshot or just something with pellets I would have shot it down.
Any thoughts?

Someone breaking the law gives you the right to break the law? Leave these situation to the authorities to deal with.

Cant definitively say he was hunting so that would fall under destruction of private property.... LE abhors vigilante justice

Same as with illegal trail cameras.......if it’s against the law to use you can bet I will render it inoperable.

I haven’t seen one yet while hunting and that’s probably a good thing because honestly i’m afraid how I would react to a drone invading my space. Pretty sure they are illegal on the public lands I hunt. I need to check into that to be sure.

Pretty soon the wardens will fly one to your stand and demand to see your license....that would be fun

So does that law mean wardens can't use them to spot violators? It says can't be used to interfer with hunters!

Good question. In that case I would think for investigations they could use them.

I have a good 1000 dollar drone you’re lucky if you could even make out a what kind of deer it is in real time.
And yes I bought it for scouting purposes the nice thing is is That I can fly it around and see real time arial photos. I use it in the big woods looking for new broken beaver ponds that were once full of water. I Also see what is planted in the fields in the hard to see spots from the road.
And yes at least up in northern Wisconsin the drone has scared the deer away.

As far as if some one was to shot it down I’d be very pissed off. I also think it is illegal to shot down an air craft but I’m not positive on that.
