Wisconsin bow hunters....

Unread postby dan » Wed Dec 08, 2010 12:28 pm

If I am reading the regulations correctly the Dec. 9th thru 12th doe only hunt is state wide and no bucks are allowed anywhere statewide not even in the buck only units...

Yep state wide... Look at the bag limits section of the hand book. Each zone is listed for does only for that weekend including CWD and buck only units.

WOW JUST CALLED THE DNR WHAT A CROCK OF $HIT NOT ONLY WAS THE LADY AN ABSOLUTE A$$ THE DEER SEASON IS ESSENTIALLY CLOSED FOR ME FOR 4 DAYS! I said to her "that makes no sense I can't shoot does in my unit why can't I fill a buck tag with my bow?" Her response "its statewide just because you can't fill antlerless tag doesn't mean others can't". My parting words "actually me and hunters in 18 different units can't hunt this weekend is what your just telling me which is ridiculous" she had nothing helpful to say beyond that point and the conversation ended. I thought there was no way I could hate the DNR anymore than I do now...I was wrong...sure hope scott walker gets rid of those ass-hats. I am livid!

I think you're right Dan...just called the WDNR hotline and I am not happy. Frustration is an understatement.

Tomorrow will be calling my local warden to confirm for the buck only units as the gal on the phone sounded like a ditz.

Sooooo what this means in the buck only units no one can be out deer hunting in them this weekend, obviously gun but sadly no archery either. Time is running out before these bucks shed up here.

Thanks, Dan.....with out posting this I would have been out there and with my luck shot a nice buck and the DNR would have to confiscate it. :?

Hodag we clearly must have talked to the same woman on the phone. Please post back ASAP when you find out if theres any thing different for the buck only units up north. I am only able to make it up north for two weekends of the late season this year and now this one is totally shot as far as hunting goes. I have a doe tag for the unit across the street. Our land is on the border. But I really don't see the need to shoot up one of the reproducers in the area. This has me so mad. Guess I'll be ice fishing and clearing brush all weekend...what a bummer.

BACKWOODS, its pretty clear in the regulations... You can look for yourself by going the the DNR website and reading the season dates and baglimits

Don't ruin it for me dan! I was hanging on that last bit of hope that the area warden would have a different story to tell. Guess I'll just get an early start my off-season scouting, wood splitting, and brush clearing this weekend and will even have some time to do some ice fishing!

 I'm not laughing at you guys...I'm laughing with you

Guess I realized this a few days ago so I had a little time to cool off. Stupid crap like this is what they need to change, not only does it make no sense, if is totally confusing :? I hunt in a regular season unit that you can shoot does with the extra bow tag I got...I think :?: I will not go though, there aren't that many does in my area. Its kinda funny too, I haven't heard it lately, about how the gun hunting should be moved up and longer, but it sure seems like gun hunting has lasted a long time.
