Doe bedding question

Unread postby BigHills BuckHunter » Sat Oct 16, 2010 8:03 am

So I scouted some land today on public because I found a great funnel to use during the rut by looking at topo and I found it on top of the ridgeline which is all hardwood forest surrounding it, I found a stand of 10 year old spruce trees and popple about 3 acres big close by. It was some very thick stuff and nothing else like it around the area. I know does like to bed down low but I was wondering if does would bed up high in this thick stuff because my plan is to have the bucks skirt the back end of it scent checking it coming right to me with a NW wind. There are also scrapes on the edges of this thick spruce/popple stand.

Either way its a great funnel I think to use because its a saddle and has a 40 yard wide about 100 yards long strip of woods connecting two big woods. I might post a pic of it later.

My experience is that they will bed just about wherever they feel comfortable and have enough room to group together. I've found doe beds up high and down low, in all kinds of terrain.

Does like to bed high... Probably some bedding in the thick area.
