What's going on?

Unread postby Treejunkie » Sat Sep 25, 2010 5:11 am

Ok, I am early for a meeting this am at a clients place, I sit down, drink a soda and am looking at the latest Bass Pro Shop catalog in the cafeteria.

When did a 3 pack of Rage Titanium broadheads justify $80? Underarmour gear $60/shirt $60/long underwear? $400 for a popup blind?? $85 for a flashlight. $55 for gloves? $40 for a bottle of urine?

Holy Crapola. I must be a tight-a$$ because I couldnt believe the prices of some of this crap. I'll stick with my Muzzys, long underwear I bought from Cabelas, $60 pop up blind that was on sale, my 6 pack of LED flashlights I got back at Christmas, my typical camo gloves and pass on the urine.

Now I can see why these companies can sponser some of these crap shows on TV. Unbelievable.

I've never heard of more than $39.99 for Rage broadheads... And even that's too much. Pretty sure Muzzy charge the exact same. Most broadheads are competative with price.

But I catch your drift, you said it well. And yes, most shows ARE crap lately.

But you only get 3 Rage for $39.99 and you get 6 Muzzy for $35-$39. IMO that is another reason to use Muzzy.

I don't have a problem putting down good $$$ for good equipment but the commercialization of our sport seem to have blown up in the past decade. The good thing is we have choice and don't have to buy these products but they can certainly deserve a head shake at times.

I also often wonder if all these new "hunting shows" are nothing more than some rich guys tax write off. Is it me or are there like 100 new shows every year with all kinds of people from all walks of life. I think we need to get Dan on tv and have him tell it like it is.

Well I am with Headgear in that I don't mind putting down good money for a quality product. I have found that in the long run it is typically a money saver. However, my problem with a lot of this stuff is FIRST it makes it harder for a new guy or even a kid coming in to the sport to afford it as the junk is priced inline with the quality stuff which just shouldn't be. Especially considering where most of it is manufactured for pennies on the dollar. Second...Most of it is pixie dust and especially the new people entering can spend a lot of money with little or no reward and be turned away. It would be one thing if products were fairly and competetively priced, but the it seems that though product can be manufactured significantly cheaper over seas that saving is no longer passed on to the customer the way it used to be. A 30% profit is not enough anymore it has to be a 300% profit on everything.
God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

The Rage Titaniums are the stupid expensive ones. I don't need space shuttle material on my broadheads.

Under armour is worth the coin tho IMO
