Question about wind and stand entry

Unread postby BigHills BuckHunter » Tue Sep 14, 2010 4:10 pm

I am excited about a stand I hung earlier this spring on top of an alfalfa ridge with hardwoods all around it. The field runs South to North as well as the ridge its on. My stand is located at the south end of the field where the field is about 50 yards wide. I found a trail leading to a bucks bedroom located in the Southeast corner of the field. My stand is in the Southwest corner. I plan on hunting it with a Northwest to NNW wind becuase my scent should go over and just to the west of the bedding area which is just downhill. Remember I will be on top of a ridge. Also with a Northwest wind I would think he would bed there. What do you guys think of this setup? How should I enter? From the West? South?

Thanks for any advice guys.

Yea but would I have to put it on photobucket first? Or can I copy and paste?

I would be a little leary of your scent stream going downhill to the bedding area when the evening thermal wind changes... I would want to see a topo also...

I know im cutting it really tight but I didnt know where else to put the stand. This was the most logical spot and seemed like the only spot that would work. Hopefully it works out. I will post a topo for you guys later to look at.
