Re: Gun or bow?
Every turkey I've gotten so far has been wiith gun. I don't take it quite as seriously as deer hunting but maybe I'll try the bow someday...

I voted Bow. Everybody has their own thing they enjoy, mine is watching that arrow fly!!!!!!!! I think growing up in Michigan ruined my perception of gun hunting....

Re: Gun or bow?
When I have a weapon choice I will always choose my bow. Still trying to get a turkey with my bow and I never hunted with a gun for them. Had plenty of turkeys in range that I easily could have killed with the gun but I am determined to get one with my bow no matter how many years it takes.

Re: Gun or bow?
I voted gun, but finally got a double bull blind so I might give the bow a chance this season.

Re: Gun or bow?
I chose bow because if you opt for Iowa's archery tag, you get to hunt all 4 spring seasons. Gun, you have to choose one of them.

Never killed a turkey with a gun.

You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

I do both. I voted and prefer the bow.

Re: Gun or bow?
Bow for me but I'd have no qualms about shooting one with a gun. Which is a bit contradictory since I won't hunt deer with guns.

Re: Gun or bow?
I mostly bow hunt for them and prefer this, but I'm starting to wonder if I need to get a slump buster out of the way with the gun. Turkey's have whipped me for years, no great explanation why.

Re: Gun or bow?
A blind and/or a decoy takes away everything I love about turkey hunting, so that all but rules out bowhunting them.

Re: Gun or bow?
I don’t like sitting still for too long hunting turkeys. When I had access to awesome private turkey land I moved around with the bow hunting turkeys. Dad sold that property so now I bomb around on public with my gun. No dekes, just my gun a diaphragm call and me dressed in camo.

Re: Gun or bow?
Wow....old thread! I'm still all about using the bow, and pretty much just head shoot any more. I do hunt from a blind with dekes, but still stay mobile and don't sit still for very long.
A common misconception is that blind hunting is all about sitting in one spot all day.....not true. I have no problems packing up and moving if the birds tell me to do so.
It's really no different than hauling in a Lone Wolf and sticks for a mobile deer hunt. I use it mainly for self filming and getting a draw on super close birds.
BUT....I also have no problem taking the shotty out and gunning one down if I'm in the mood!

Re: Gun or bow?
I've only killed turkeys with the shotgun, but this year it's bow only. I really wanna get one with the bow.
