What are you doing these days?

Unread postby The Rav » Wed May 05, 2010 1:44 am

It sounds like everyone is about done looking for bedding areas. If so, what are you doing now. Last weekend I spent some time glassing a couple of my spots from a distance just to see what might be going on. Didn't really see anything yet. Saturday evening I was watching one spot from the roadside when a family came down the road for an evening walk/bike ride so I decided to go to another spot.
So what are you guys/gals doing for scouting now when your not out fishing or whatever?

Just took a little walk yesterday, looking for sign. It's tough, because of gren up, but I did find a bed with hair in it. It was under the roots of an uprooted tree.

Chasing turkeys with friends and family until next week when I am up to bat! Also pickin' morels and scouting at the same time.

Once Turkey season opens I stay out of the woods and let the Turkey hunters have their peace. Now that it is over I will go back out and finish moving stands that I didn't get done before Turkey season opened. Then I plan on doing some evening field watching with binoculars and spot light about June,July when the bucks have put on some antler and you can get an idea of what you have in an area. I am also going to try and gain access to property if I find a good bachelor group. I have got to start branching out because the family property is getting worse every year with pressure.
God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

I still scout when I have the time- bug suits and all if necessary, as long as the heat doesn't make it unbearable. I'm definitely spending WAY too much time at work right now, though.
