What turkey decoys do you prefer?

Unread postby huntinfool14 » Tue Apr 13, 2010 5:16 am

just wondering what everyone likes to use for decoys..iv had alot of success with a real mounted hen laying in the breeding position, and also with a mounted jake decoy behind it..its pretty expensive decoys but when a tom sees them...iv had them come running in! had jakes and hens pecking at the heads of both decoys, and also jakes mounting the hen..i really want to try a plastic decoy that struts, like the B-Mobile or the King Strut

Ive had a lot of sucess with a hen decoy and a b-mobile with a jake fan on it. The toms cannot stand to see a grubby jake strutting with one of his hens.

Ive had luck with B-Mobile early in the spring, but not the latter. Subordinate toms seem to hang up and not come in since they have been getting their butts kicked all spring. I'm hoping my new DSD hen will help this Spring.

I have a custom strutter decoy, but my go-to deke is my Dave Smith hen. Yes, they are expensive but it is truly unbelievable how well these decoys work!

I use a customized B-mobile and Dave Smith decoys. Like Ack said, they are expensive but well worth the price if you bowhunt turkeys. It will draw birds in that extra distance needed to shoot them with a bow. I actually use B-mobile all spring but transition between a mature tom fan and jake fan.

ive bought all kinds of decoys, most of all of them look like a mutated turkey.at one time i stop using them cuz i thought they were scaring them  .....the most impressive turkey decoys ive came across in a wile is these zink decoys......they look so real ....i had a bearded hen come in and attack my decoy, i am a firm believer, i cant wait until this spring

I use the inflatable decoys, they look the most real because they have a little bit of shine on them, and they are a photo of a real turkey.

I always thought that too when I saw them in the store, but when you see a jake or tom out in the sun they have a little bit of shine to them too. I think any decoy will work provided it is set up wrong, if they are wrong or slightly out of place, they can hurt your odd's more than help them.

Hunted with a friend last year and he had B-mobile and She mobile. Needless to say, I now own a B-mobile. never in my life have I seen turkeys react to a decoy like they do to this one. ;)

I just picked up a couple of Zink decoys - a feeder and the jake. I debated between an alert hen or the feeder..??? What do you guys think? Anyway, I'm looking forward to using them.

I use a modified Killer-B that I run with a jake fan and added real wings. I dont have any good pics right now, but I will get some in the next few days. My hen just got upgraded to a DSD upright hen..
