Great story. My takeaway - use time of year and the situation to determine best tactics to be used. Can’t approach every situation the same way.

Congrats Dan. You're right the deer were moving hard before the snowstorm. I was out scouting Saturday afternoon till dark and saw about 30 deer while I was roaming around in the strong winds just before the snow started. Crazy day. Snuck right up on many of them and would have been easy ground kills. Season is closed up here but sure would have been a fun day of hunting. Glad you were able to enjoy it and get one for the freezer.
