Re: Incase you don't read my Ohio Adventures
Thanx all!!
Still grinning ear to ear. So much went into that buck in a pretty short amount of time. It's was getting exhausting. In between my vacations, I was pretty much working every day. I feel like I haven't slept since October started lol.
I'm about to the point where aside from about Halloween till mid-november, I've about given up on mornings. Plus knowing the snow would be like walking in, I did intend to sleep in....but not half the day! Lol.
I did fully intend on sitting that spot the entire hunt. Just didn't have to lol.
I've killed a fair amount of deer and several bucks. I've NEVER been hit with emotions like that after sending a bullet or arrow. Very powerful experience. He was destined for the wall even if he was a one eyed snaggletoothed half racked spike.
Great experience for sure. The entire process...highs and lows. Going into it, I fully expected a brutal learning curve and a big ole piece of humble pie. Never expected to tag my best buck.
Even the seconds leading up to the shot were much like the entire experience. The highs of initially seeing him. Knowing he was going to slip over the edge of the ravine in the matter of steps and be gone. Hits the last opening...took half the weight off the trigger twice and had to stop because he was running in circles trying to sort out the doe trail. Breaking the trigger on his shoulder and knowing he took off but not certain of what happened. It was the craziest couple of seconds.
Can't wait to see him on the wall. And looking forward to getting back down there. Going to continue cyber scouting all year. Planning to go down in turkey season for a long weekend or 2 and hunt/scout. I want to have some solid options and a better game plan going into next season. Difficult because it's 4-5 hours away. I'd LOVE to be able to pick it apart for a year or 2.

Way to get it done on a great buck! It's nice when the grinding is rewarded.
