Re: Live from the field 2020
Setup at the mouth of a drain, its a little terrain pinch with hardwoods and makes a point into crp. One of my target bucks lives in this area and I know he sometimes beds around this spot. Only problem is I’m having a tough time locating his exact beds. There’s several edges right in this area but I’m not sure which one exactly he’s bedding on. I’ve got pics of him right at dark around here a few times.
I’ve been more invasive in here then I’d have liked since the summer, but I just need the intel. He hasn’t left yet and seems pretty content to stay in this 30 acre area. I still don’t have him pegged to where I’m confident I can kill him. When I get down this morning I’m gonna poke around some more. After today I won’t be able to come back for a few weeks. This place is proving to be really tough to hunt. There’s a ton of hogs here and I wouldn’t be upset if they bumped him to me

Re: Live from the field 2020
Congratulations to all you guys that have been getting it done. First day with cell Coverage in a while. Spent all of yesterday scouting and found almost no sign. Jumped a lone doe in a clearcut. Change of venue in order. Set up this morning on a local private piece that I will be hunting for the last season. It's been a good source of doe meat for the past few years. Two solid bedding ares. Sitting between them and looking for cruisers. Good luck everyone!

Good luck!
Was set up for a j hook to a bed. Doing a little still hunting found 30 yd from bed but a camera also. Bed looks unused... No wonder why.

Re: Live from the field 2020
Setup on leeward side of ridge, not much to go off of, sign wise. But the wind was in my favor, and there were some faint trails on this side hill.
A lone doe decided to take her last walk today! Double lunged her at 25 yards, she ran 50-60 yards downhill and fell over.
I can see her laying so I decide to keep hunting for a buck, so I started doing a rattling sequence.
From where the doe fell, something moves and runs off. I’m thinking oh crap, the doe didn’t end up falling! Then another shape is by the exact spot where the doe is, and suddenly they started yippin and yappin! It was 2 coyotes, within less than a minute they found my doe and started tearing into her. Bunch of crows started circling and getting super loud with their screeches and cawing.
I get down from my stand to try and sneak up to the coyotes and take a shot at one of them. They end up winding me and running off.
Exciting hunt! My first doe with a bow on public land. It feels awesome!

Re: Live from the field 2020
Saw something like 20 deer last night, and then really messed up and shot over the back of a good one at like 6 yards. 6 yd on the ground is a pretty intense encounter. Managed to sleep through my alarm this morning, so we're doing some glassing from the road. Going to get back in after that buck tonight.
I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person.

Couldn’t turn him up. Maybe 15 drops of blood in a couple hundred yards. Shot felt solid but must have been high. Hopefully he shows back up on camera

Re: Live from the field 2020
Thanks fellas! Yea it would’ve been awesome to take out one of those coyotes but oh well. I threw a trail camera over the deer gut pile. Hopefully I’ll get some cool pictures of predators and scavengers.
