I've got another update!! So I went in after the big one again yesterday morning for the first time since I shot my buck last week. I also decided to go for a ground set up on this hunt too. The way the ridge sets up if I was in a tree I would have too steep of a shot angle for my liking. So ground it was again. I was setup this time a little over an hour before daylight. So, im overlooking a very shaded ridge with the creek bottom about 40 yds below me. Which the cattails at the bottom make the deer's silhouettes show up decent. But with the trees, it makes it hard to see unless its a good opening. So anyway, just like it was meant to be, 10 minutes after legal shooting light I hear leaves crunching. I'm usually a very dedicated (if that's the right term for this) when it comes to hunting. But what I mean is that I set up in full kill mode, bow up and ready, release clipped, ready for that opportunity that could show up in 2 seconds. Hunting this big buck has really got me ready. So as this deer is coming in, like I said before, it is dark even though it's 10 minutes after legal has started. So im watching this buck, a REALLY nice & tall 8 pt, walk by 20 yards away but I can't really make out exactly what he is. He's definitely with out a doubt a shooter though. So I come to full draw and am waiting for him to stop, but then I hear another one coming. Now remembering that when I shot my other buck the big one was behind him, I shift my attention to the second deer. This one's body completely dwarfs the first! so I completely zone in on killing him. I ended up at full draw for almost 2 minutes before I got the perfect shot on the second buck. So I settled in and squeezed it off at about 25 yds. My guess is he went down a bit, cause as soon as I shot he fell on his but and slid to the bottom of the hill. I ran down and put another arrow in him and the job was done in mere seconds. As soon as I had spine him and he started sliding down the hill it was obvious he wasn't the 140" buck I was after. It was his body size that sold me on taking him. And the fact that his bases looked huge. I now know why. But he is a tank of a deer! At least 3 years old pushing 200 pounds! The rack is just an extra bonus. He had lots of character. (And 5 on one side) haha. And this neat little split paddle thing coming down the back of his neck. Super pumped to put my tag on this guy! Incredibly happy and grateful for him. So as of now, im tagged out in Michigan. I got a doe last Tuesday on the ground, my buck on Friday on the ground, and now this on yesterday on the ground! My goal this year was to do more ground hunting and im pumped it worked out like it did. I've been extremely blessed. Thanks for your input and congratulations to me guys! I really appreciate it.

He looks like a normal spike in the pictures, but both spikes and the split thing come off the same antler. Kinda confused why a 200 pound, 3 possibly 4-year-old der had antlers like this but I guess it makes him that much more unique.

Wow! Both of those bucks are great! Looks like you found yourself an excellent piece of public land to hunt here in Michigan. Great job!

The 2nd one looks like an older buck in his twilight. The body is yooooog!

Any ideas on how old you think he might be? I think he's older than I thought. When I process him today he just was built like a horse. He was just a super-strong powerfully built deer.
