Going to hang a set and try a bump and dump this evening.

Good luck DHD, hope you stick him

Best spot looks to be on the ground, about fifty yards downwind of where I was this morning. Seems to me in this area with the canopy still on I'm better off on the ground, more shooting lanes. I believe this is a staging area, and he may try to come back thru to see what was up. I'm fairly certain he didn't smell me. I'll be back in there by 5 waiting on him.

In other news, the farmers are going absolutely ham on the soybeans right now.

Just got to my parking location. Going to relax and eat my lunch and start getting everything ready. Seems to be scattered rain now here in SE WI. I’ll be lightly dressed in rain gear and then change when I get to the tree. According to my path out there last time it’s over a mile from the car and much of it through the cattails. I brought the camera along today and plan to film if it can stay dry. The bean field on private has been picked but I’m hoping the field across the street from it that is still standing will be a draw and make them get moving a little earlier since they now have a further distance to travel.

Spotted some buck bedding 30 yds off the road on my way to town. 2 2.5 yr old yooper bucks. One was standing up browsing and that’s how I spotted em. He was a half rack I had on A road crossing cam nearby. When the wind switched these bucks would be on cam. 10 am noon whenever. Now I know where they bed on north wind.

Just wizzing out of the canoe and starting the trudge.

Got the suffer sack all packed and ready for a weekend of elk hunting (probably watching) and camping.

Settled in. New spot, scouted it in the winter and found a really nice flat of white oak that goes to a point on private. The sign is here, the wind is good.

Got picked off by a spiker while stripping my wet shirt off. Didn’t see him until I was shirtless. Managed to get a new shirt on and my jacket before he came in to get downwind of me. He didn’t blow but bounded off after getting 35-40 yds away. Hoping it’s a good sign that they will be on their feet early tonight!

Hoping the last of this rain is done but my milkweed says I’m flirting with disaster!
