He was actually 55. I ranged from where deer was back to where I shot. 55 exactly. I definitely missed high. I saw him an hour later on my way back to truck. Clean miss, so thats good.

Realized right after I posted that I had left my arrows in the truck. First time for everything. Headed back in for round 2.

So I forgot my bow, one of my trail cameras refused to work, and I screwed up an encounter with a nice eight point on the ground. All in all it was awesome.

Happy Wisconsin opener!
I didn’t plan to hunt this morning but due to the rain and my insomnia, I’m going to sneak in and glass a big public bean field. I have an unobtrusive entry and I don’t know enough about this area. Here we go! Good luck to all.

First real hunt since getting to Kentucky. Covered a bunch of ground and nicked some spots off the list. Ended up sitting this isolated waterhole at the top of a draw. Have an oak ridge to my west and Some logging roads to the north.

Goodluck all

Got in nice and early to a pretty good looking chunk of crp bedding, with a deep draw behind me to make it difficult to get j hooked. Everything is looking good, cue the dove hunters on the next property over. The guy is apparently not very good at controlling his dog, takes lots of yelling. Beautiful morning anyway. Even got a turkey gobbling his head off behind me.

Going to sit it out a little longer and see if the dove hunters maybe spook some deer my way. Good luck to everyone on Wisconsin opener!

No luck this morning. Only saw a doe and a fawns about 60 yards from my stand in the dark. I was set up within 30 yards of a vine mock scrape that I put up this summer. Went to go check it before I left and somebody had ripped it down. Guess I know that spot gets some pressure/foot traffic. There were trails all over the place leading right to that mock scrape in the crp

That stinks. Seems kinda stupid to rip that down unless it was an anti-hunter or something? Why would another hunter want to ruin a potential community scrape?
