No fasting. Eat half servings but twice as often. Keep that metabolism up. Also you can trick your body’s metabolism by drinking a bottle of water an hour.

I would have to disagree. When I have been able to pull off 16-8 intermittent fasting it had been great for me. Once I am in ketosis it's not hard to only eat in the afternoon and early evening.

Wow. Some of you guys are animals.

About two weeks ago, I cut out any junk food, sugar etc and am trying to eat healthy as in less processed and just more meat, veggies, and fruit.

Im doing core work every day as well as lifting on 3 days, running 3ish miles on 3 days and then hiking on 1-2. I feel like I have to push myself harder after seeing some of your comments.

Love intermittent fasting. I was doing this before working from home with Covid 19. Now working from home I eat everything. :shifty:

Honestly I commend you for that improvement. I have an easier time being active to failure than quitting junk food and a summer beer. I’m weak on that front.

I don't know about others, but I can't get motivated to be in a gym on a treadmill or what not. For me my work out is 3-4 days a week, 2 of the days I ride my bike on the gravel roads around my house for roughly 5-8 miles, then the other 2 days I put a 40 pound bag of softener salt in my pack and hike the ditches that are not mowed for roughly 3-4 miles. It's amazing how much of a work out walking with weight on your back is through waist to should high grass is.

It has not been easy. Especially considering I live with people who do like it. Im just trying to get in as best shape as I can right now so I figured I will cut it now and when I feel good with where I am I can slowly bring some back.

I can second the hiking with a pack on. I load up my bag to go hang cameras, and according to my fitness tracker those are the highest strain workouts I get. Turns out the best way to make myself keep going is to hike in somewhere deep, where the only option to get home is to hike back out.

I do that when i'm out scouting as well, but usually only with 20 pounds instead of 40.

Same here. I usually scout with my pack loaded up with the same weight I carry with my regular hunting gear.

I would say to those talking about intermittent fasting vs eating more small meals that the intermittent fasting is way better for many reasons, not just losing fat. But I would also say that it isn't necessary to fast to get in shape. As far as nutrition goes, the most important thing is making good decisions as far as what you consume. When deciding what to eat, realize that your body needs to consume fats, and needs to consume protein, but does not need to consume carbohydrates. I'm not saying to go keto, I'm just saying limiting carbs is a good idea for sure. People seem to forget that your body also needs vitamins an minerals. Eat as much food as possible that is very rich in vitamins and minerals that your body needs and you will be healthier. I can speak from knowledge (being a health care professional) and experience, since I've lost 50 pounds doing it a very healthy way. 3.5 years ago I was 210 lbs. Now I am around 170, but I competed in a jiu-jitsu tournament last year at 160.

Glad to see people participating here again. Made it to optimal strain yesterday, according to my fitness tracker. That consisted of 20 minutes of yoga in the morning, 75 pushups, and a one hour hike.

I keep myself in pretty decent shape but some of you guys are way beyond what I do! You sir and those 100 miler guys. I did 100 pushups a day for a few weeks and my shoulders got so sore I had to stop, the pain was there for a couple weeks. It's all good now, I just do different things. My hat is off to you because that mental discipline is difficult to maintain. I ran a half marathon 2 years back just to train my mind to push past the point where it wanted to give up. Keep up the good work!

Back to back four hour hike days, extremely high strain according to my fitness tracker. Taking a well deserved rest day today.
