What’s your go 2 knot
I’m curious what kind of knots most fishermen use. For attaching to lure/jig/hook I only use 2. For crappie fishing with jigs I like a loop knot and everything else gets a Palomar. I luv the palomar cause it’s fast and super easy. I’m often wading or in a tube and waves etc... make tying on others tricky at times. I also use a double uni knot a lot for attaching leaders or splicing lines.

Been using the Trilene knot all my life. Never had it fail on me once even with heavy duty musky gear. The trick with any knot is wet it right before pulling tight.

I'm with you boogie. 90% of the time I am using a palomar knot, but sometimes I use an improved clinch. Other than that, about the only other knot I use is a double uni knot for attaching a leader to main line.

Loop knot for panfish, improved clinch and snell for everything else. I use mono 99% of the time for everything just different weights.

Mostly improved clinch knot. Only 4 wraps though. Sometimes polymer knot.

Re: What’s your go 2 knot
I always use a palomar knot on hooks, and a fisherman's knot on pretty much everything else.

I thought the trick to any good knot was a hefty dose of
Tobacco juice With musky do u run a wire leader? I’ve never fished for anything with teeth so just curious. I don’t recall ever losing a good fish due to a poor knot. The main culprit for me on trophy size catfish are there pectoral fin. Them suckers start death rolling and If that serrated fin hits your line it’s game over. Rip rap rock and braid line has cost me a few other whoppers. Them rough edges of the rock go through braid like a hot knife through butter.

I prefer spit but tobacco juice will work too but depending on the consistency may be a bit too slippery.
For musky I mostly use leaders made of 125 lb fluorocarbon since it disappears in the water. It’s pretty much indestructible but always check for nicks just in case. The snap is usually the weak link so many times I attach my bait directly to a split ring at the end of my leader and eliminate the snap.

Improved clinch, hands down, for me for lure to leader. Double surgeon's for line to leader and perfection loops when needed.

Re: What’s your go 2 knot
To knot or not to knot - that is the question
Not sure what knot I use, I'll try to describe my knot...
Stick it thru the hole, say 3-4".
Spin it 7-8 times while holding the end with the shank of the monofilament.
Taunt the spun monofilament and stick the end thru the tiny loop s bas of hook created by spinning.
Pull thru and lap the line and tighten.
Make sure that the stack hoops are on top of each other as tightening the knot.
Cut end of line to +/- 3/16"

Re: What’s your go 2 knot
My Dad taught me the improved clinch when I was 5 have been using it for everything ever since. Although I recommend the turle knot for quickly changing flies that’s the ticket.
