That is neat. I always try and replant the seeds once I separate from the pods. It grows everywhere around me locally, so I never thought about milkweed gardening BUT, hey if you cant find it or it doesnt grow near you... I would absolutely grow it too

Anybody know when the milkweed pods can be harvested in Iowa? always seen them closer to hunting season just never bothered to grab any, in lieu I've used some fly tying material but it's bright pink and sticks to my Fanatic bibs/jacket too much lol.
Want to try some milkweed this year instead.

Yep, I’ve grabbed some on the way to the stand before.

I tried throwing harvested seeds out last fall. Can any experts tell me if this is emerging milkweed? Look like I have 10+ groups of these going.

I threw some seeds at the edge of my yard a few years ago but not a single one grew...for the effort i put into it though i cant complain. Luckily for me i work for the highway dept here so i pick the pods i need while we are out mowing

Can someone put up a pic of grown milkweed? I have yet to see it down here.
I'm reason they call it hunting and not shooting.

This is the most abundant stuff I’ve seen in OK. It’s flowering right now and should have pods here in the next few weeks. The grassy ditches along highways and interstates are the best places to find most species.

Teaching is only demonstrating that it is possible.... Learning is making it possible for yourself.

I see a lot at the golf courses. That’s why I hit my tee shot into the weeds so I can pick a few extra pods...
