How much effort should a average blue collar God fearing man put into killing a mature buck on public ground???

Ever minute of your time. Drop all other hobbies and relationships. Live a spartan life style out in the woods. I’m kidding I don’t know

Struggling with the same question but the answer will be different for everyone who asks since nobody's situation at home is the same. For me personally, family is always first and prioritizing my own agenda around that is on me

When you are no longer having fun! Everyone has a difference tolerance level. Only you can answer that question for you.

Personally, I really enjoy being out in the woods. So, I get out as much as I can between work & family. I've never ever felt I was over prepared going into a season 8-)

I'm usually chasing one buck on my farm each season. I hunt every day untill I get him. In Michigan we get 2 buck tags so it usually don't stop. But I do become more relaxed and will miss a few hunts I wouldn't have if I hadn't shot him yet. I'm normally going to have between 50 and 60 sits a year. It's seams to be a trend that the guys who put in the most time year round are the guys with the most success year after year. Just like everything else in life, the level of success is measured by the effort applied.

Whatever makes you happy. If you put so much pressure on yourself its not fun anymore or its negatively impacting your personal life, then maybe its time to take a step back. I know there have been times I felt burned out and just needed to take a break for a day.

IMO it depends on your priorities, what phase of life you’re in and how bad you want a big buck.
There is no such thing as to much intel or to many target bucks to hunt.

But as much enjoyment as I get out of hunting there are more important things in my life than killing a big buck.

So if you really want to be successful I would say as much time as you possibly can and still strike a balance in the rest of your life.
