Where I belong

Unread postby dan » Wed Apr 15, 2020 11:35 pm

Sitting in a blind with Dave this morning enjoying the darkness turning to daylight and the woods come alive... No gobbling, no birds in sight, but that matters little. Just enjoying one more opening day in the woods with a good friend. As we sit here we talk of hunts from the past, the time me and jr sat here a decade or more ago in this very spot and had a coyote jump in our ground blind with us, the success, the fails, and the amount of years gone by.... a hunter is more at home in the woods than in his brick and mortar home. Lately the lockdown has me down, it's nice to get back to where I belong.

Its been nice sitting in the woods the past few days! We got about 1.5 in of snow. Not sure how that will affect my hunt but good luck to everyone this season.

Good luck enjoy the good time! Hopefully pickled eggs weren’t on either of your breakfast plates, might wreck the hunt if you have to evacuate the blind.

Where is the coyote story?? I agree on sharing that if it hasn't been already.

Excited for the 18th here in Michigan.

Great topic dan. Took a walk myself this morning. No gobbles were heard, but went to the field on public where Helen, Ellie and I sat about 11 years ago. Me and Ellie were in the blind and she had a coloring book. Helen was out front against a tree. I said I was going to try to pull a bird past her as soon as I heard one. As I heard a gobble coming in, I left the blind and tried to walk away hen talking to pull one in. Nothing happened, so I went back and Ellie was coloring and Helen was still sitting in front of the blind. I said, what happened? Ellie looked up and said a turkey walked by mom. I said she didn't shoot? Ellie shrugged and went back to coloring.

I didn't see crap this morning, but it jogged my memory. Ellie will be 16 in a few days

Hope you and Dave had a great time together Dan. You are so right about a hunter being at home in the woods. Seems like it just does something soothing to the soul to be back out.

Hope you guys get back out and bust a couple nice ones!
