Can’t argue with this resolution. As you zoom in the resolution changes and improves pretty drastically.
I had a gripe last year about OnX resolution but it improved greatly since then. Maybe it’s just a regional thing.

I wish. This is all I get at that same resolution.
Zoom out and it gets worse.... Borderline 8 bit Nintendo kind of worse... Looks cartoonish.

That’s how mine used to be. Maybe it will improve soon enough. I noticed some areas in WI were better than others but seems like the entire midwest is great now. The spot I posted was just a random zoom in lower MI.

I'll give it another shot next season. I keep it on my phone and check it out every once in a while.. I've not paid for it since last year though.. IT seems blocky. If I zoom waaaay out some areas seem to have better color and details then others...

Here is what I mean about the topos sucking too.... Same property... OnX vs a free app US Topo Maps Free. Tons of resolution lines missing, trails missing, etc..

I just switched from gaia app to onx app. So far it's an improvement. The aerial resolution on onx is better than gaia in the three different states I checked.

I'm starting to think they just don't show us any love up here in the N.E.

Re: Hand held GPS for scouting
Clearly, they put a lot less effort into the N.E.... Although those are pretty drastic elevation changes though...
I just noticed the elevation numbers are wrong as well in OnX. It says that swamp is 86 feet below sea level... Lol I wouldn't be hunting there, I would be fishing for sea bass were that true.
I live right on the coast... Ground that is below sea level is under the Atlantic... I know the elevation there is actually about 35 feet above...

Elk hunting in CO I have used OnX and is works good, but you need to know the limitations. Your phone's gps isn't as accurate as some handhelds and my Garmin etrex30 with a garmin chip has more defined contours. However i have never found the need to be that accurate in the woods, since my eyes can show me better detail and slopes than a contour map.

I like onX but I wish they had the option to look at older images like google earth.

I use Caltopo and or OnX both reliable...I go back deep and come out cold in the dark. Both can out me on my camera in thick Schizzel and I get home for the hit coffee... New School is just fine too.

Re: Hand held GPS for scouting
I have been using a garmin etrex since before the phone game, so many points in that thing now I can’t get rid of it even though if I was starting now I’d use OnX, and the way I go through and lose cell phones is astounding
