Buck Movement GPS study

Unread postby The Mediocre Hunter » Sat Dec 21, 2019 10:31 am

Hey guys, I read this article that I thought would be great to share on here especially to help some see why sometimes you only have pictures of certain bucks in nighttime and what it might mean. I know the article is somewhat old but I think the info is really good. I'm a visual learner so it helped me see the importance of really trying to narrow down buck bedding.

That proves exactly why buck BEDDING is the main focus of many guys here.

I read over it quickly...but sounds like the 4.5yo buck was moving regularly with a half hour of light left...but never really far from his bed.

And like Dan says in one of his videos....you can't kill those bucks if you don't know where they bed....gotta know where those beds are and how to get close enough to them to capitalize on that last light movement.

Exactly! Also kind of shows the benefits of maybe being able to get a better opportunity in the evening vs morning as he was bedded before daylight.

3 bucks out of 37 were back in their bedding areas but there is no data suggesting they were bedded. It shows that hunting near food sources is unproductive in early season but there is a ton of movement in the bedding areas
