I agree, and it isn't the normal Roman-nosed, big old buck "burliness", either.
I think he looks like he's inbred or something.

I have seen somewhat similar racks & faces in very old bucks. I have a friend that had pics of a bully of a buck for years & when he got to about 10-12 years old he got a lot like that. He went way down hill but was still a bully with BIG body.
You cannot invade mainland America. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass.

You might be right.
Also, I've just had one I killed two Saturdays ago get swollen and puffy looking when I left his head and cape lying outside at night for a couple nights, freezing and probably partially thawing.
So much so that the eyes that had been open when I butchered him swelled shut tightly.
That could very well be the case on that palmated one.
And camera angles can be deceiving, etc.

I wish the Raccoon Valley taxidermist had answered my email questions about it.

I've heard both that 30k was spent on helicopter and/or that the pilot was a buddy of the guy that shot it and it was inexpensive.

A friend of a friend has the sheds of that deer last year.

They did not spend 30k on it... that's rediculas. Probably just paid time and fuel.
