Re: Wisconsin Rut Reports
Reality is were still in pre-rut. Peak doesn't hit for 1 1/2-2 weeks! Should be seeing some cruising and chasing though.

Rut related.

Re: Wisconsin Rut Reports
I’ve been sitting all day since last Friday and I’ve been seeing similar to what everyone else is saying. If you told me it was December 27 and not the rut, I’d believe it.

Sat for 6 hours in the public marsh. Nothing all morning but caught a glimpse of big buck cruising the edge of the marsh close to noon today.

Re: Wisconsin Rut Reports
Did a 70 mile shining loop tonight and finally saw some rut action. Had a big buck locked down with a doe in a thicket only 20 yards from the road. She was bedded and he was watching over her. They didn’t move even with the spotlight right on them. Doesn’t get more locked down than that.
Little while later I passed a buck with his nose to the ground. Put my truck in reverse and saw in my back up camera he crossed the road right at my rear bumper and didn’t have a care in the world I was there. He continued circling my truck as I parked there then crossed the road again then trailing like a bloodhound at a trot with nose tight to the ground. He was on a mission. Apparently my truck was parked right on the trail of a hot doe.
Lot’s of big bodied deer in the distance I couldn’t make out the rack size but obvious they were also tending does.
Good to know the rut is actually happening around here. I was starting to wonder.

Re: Wisconsin Rut Reports
Jefferson County. I was out before daylight this morning on a buddy’s farm. Had a rally nice 9 pointer about 300 yards from me dogging and chasing a doe from about 7am-8:30am. She bed down in the field for a bit and he just stood around on lookout. Lockdown central. This is the time to be in the woods for sure.

Re: Wisconsin Rut Reports
I am going to hunt in NW of state tomorrow and Wed morning. Will be cold. I hope they are still dogging some does up there. Haven't been out in over a week.

Re: Wisconsin Rut Reports
Here is my rut report........
I hunted 15 of the last 17 days and saw absolutely zero rut action from stand. Easily my worst rut ever. Very strange. Can’t explain it other than just not being in the right place at the right time. Every buck I saw was basically on a bed to feed pattern and didn’t seem to be even a little bit interested in does. Most nights I went shining to stay up on what was happening and didn’t even see any of the typical chasing or seeking at nighttime until this past weekend which I reported above. Hoping things crank up around here by this coming weekend.

Re: Wisconsin Rut Reports
Granted they're city bucks (Milwaukee) but I haven't seen hardly any rut activity from the bucks in the park where I live (and I see them a lot), except for this morning when the wife called and said there was a buck chasing a doe next to the house. She said it was a big 10 pointer! Think I am going to head up to the Northwoods this weekend for one last attempt before gun season. Hoping for some good action.
