Dabowhunter---I do have some deer blood stored in small plastic pop bottles in the freezer. I'll have to see how many I have left but I imagine I could part with one or two...a little goes a long way.

Basinboy---awesome little girl you have there...she is going to make a fine tracker for you!

Basinboy, that combo of breeding makes for a great hog dog, too if you like to do hog doggin'.

Basinboy--our pups must be sisters! I got my puppy, "CC" about 2 weeks ago. She is half catahoula and half lab....I have NO idea on how to blood track train a dog. I would like to do so as she appears to have a fantastic nose. Beautiful pup you have there man. Here is mine.

She's a beauty! I have never trained one. But they say it isn't real hard. Start now with short blood trails. Make the trails harder as she gets the hang of it. Make fun for her. Giving her plenty of praise goes a long way.

Google "Blood Trailing dogs" on the internet and there are several clubs out there that have a decent amount of information on the art of blood trailing with dogs. The biggest key seems to be starting them very young and keeping it entertaining for the pup. Good luck!

Those pups are awesome, thanks for putting the pics up- never get tired of pup pics. 8-)

As a very young, rookie hunter- I had a knack for putting arrows into whitetails, mostly young bucks and does. I used to shoot deer with my recurve like some people swat house flies. Anywho, one thing I wasn't great at was tracking and finding the deer I shot. I really was fortunate in that I had a dog that was a natural, named Rosie. She was half black lab and half german shepherd. I found her ability by accident, she went with me one day and ran right to my buck. After that, If I had any trouble tracking I turned her loose and she would run right to my deer and start barking when she found it! I shot a big 8 one day before school and she tracked it to the main road, went to the other side and came back, circled where we had come from again, came right back to the road and looked at me like... dude, that buck is gone! After enlisting the help of experienced hunters we concluded she was on the money, someone had thrown my buck into their truck. What a dog!
