Fishing the last couple of weeks

Unread postby Tadmdad » Tue Jul 05, 2011 2:51 pm

Took the boat down to Lk Erie on 6/25, 6/26. Walleye fishing was tough by Erie standards, we earned what we kept, with many throwbacks.

Buddy has his boat slipped in Pentwater, fished Little Point Sable on 7/2. Ended up with a nice box for the day. Foggy in the a.m. cleared up by midday, took us some time to figure out the pattern for the day. Good midday bite, not another boat around for miles.

Looks like some awesome time on the water Tadmdad. 8-) Lots of good eating and good times catching them. Can't beat that.

You bet DS....summertime on the pond, good friends, good times shared.

If you want any fillets let me know, were always trying to find people to give some too.

So.....anyone up for a Hunting Beast Salmon challenge?

Nice job Tad! Fishing went nuts this weekend here too. We just don't have that many kings on our side yet. I'd say about 1 out of 10 boats gets a few you guys got all the warm water so we still don't have a thermocline yet. And sure I'd love to take some of your walleye fillets. Send them over!

Thanks adrenalin......Summertime pattern is finally starting to setup up north.
Lot of bait this year, conditions are changing almost daily, makes locating fish and dialing in a pattern abit challenging. But when you hit it right, makes for a fun day. Those walleye fillets don't last long around our house, you'd probably have to pry them out of the wife's cold , dead fingers.

 my wife is exactly the same! I've taken fillets in to work for the boys / fish fry, and the wife has vetoed that idea from happening again until we have more at home.

Great looking catch by the way... 8-)

Thanks SB....it's funny how that works, walleye and saltwater fish I'd better serve that to the family, if I give it away, it's grounds for a fued.
Silver fish out of the big lake, not a issue, the girls say it smells to fishy, go figure.

The Bay is once again very different from a year ago... surface temps are just now approaching 70. Great fishing days are somewhat sporadic, many fish are just now back from the Saginaw River. I had friends taking limits of big walleyes in the river just a couple of weeks ago. A year ago the Bay was so hot the walleyes were all the way up to Tawas by now. As you posted above, being adaptable is key. The last few days things are really heating up... great reports coming in from all over the Bay.
