What BEAST did this damage ?

Unread postby Swampthing » Thu Mar 25, 2010 3:29 pm

I found this tree last fall but lost the pics.So i went back to retake them .This tree is about 20 feet high at the top, it was ripped off at 12 feet. The top ,along with all the branches are laying next to it. It is all ripped up,with deep scores into the tree.

Thats my walking stick with my hat on top, stick is 6 feet tall.

Here's the top chunk

One more.

Is this from a bear that climbed up the tree, clawing his way up and at the top the tree snapped off ?

 I don't know - I'm at a loss! Bigfoot?? The rabits got to the top that is on the ground but if the tree was alive, I don't know what would have broken it off. Bear would but I don't know why he'd be up there unless he was after a critter or something.

it was Dan. I saw those same marks after he crawled up a tree at pig fest trying to get an angle on a big boar.

I really wish I hadnt deleted the pics I had when this was fresh last fall. At first I thought ,mabey a moose, but Cougar wow mabey. We have had them around where I hunt . My sisters dog was ripped up by one last year, and my dad shot at one too !
I chased one out of a marsh during a deer drive.
