Which Camo pattern should I use for Turkey season

Unread postby Uncle Lou » Thu Apr 21, 2011 3:19 am

Which camo pattern should I use. I am taking a youth hunting tomorrow. I usually use my RunNGun blind with the True Timber Conceal Brown. This pattern has a lot of bark and some oak leaves and sticks in it.

Was thinking about making a new ground blind for my hunt for tomorrow. So I took 3 of my patterns outside in the woods across the street. We will mostly be set up inside field edges in the underbrush and hardwoods, we are not in Green up yet around here.

Generally, I like lighter camo patterns and thought I would take these pics to see how they would look. What do you guys think.

Here is what I normally use Conceal Brown

Here is a tan open pattern (MC2) , draped over the existing blind.

Another open Hardwoods pattern XD3. All three by True Timber.

I thought I would try to open up the background a bit as the above pics I am standing and angling at the ground, maybe not the turkeys view. So here is a different setting and angle.

I like the MC2 mixed in with a little brush to help break it up.

Normally I like looking at patterns...but this is the wrong kind of pattern for me. Sorry Uncle Lou, I can't offer any help

I would think not moving is the best camoflauge. I have worn blue jeans and a sweatshirt and have had a tom walk within 20 yards of me without seeing me because I simply didnt move. Also birds see colors diferently than humans. Just my 2 cents.

Big Hills, you ever had a youth next to you - while you are not moving. I put youths behind a screen, yet to see one not moving.

No camo pattern is going to cover an antsy kid...........Break down and buy a pop up blind or better yet a Bale Blind from Blind Ambition

Seriously I don't think the pattern is going to make too much difference.

I like the MC2 and the Conceal Brown. If you're looking to change things up, I'd definitley try the MC2. 8-)

Of the pics I'd say the Conceal Brown. Any info I've heard from hunting with kids is that a Double Bull Blind is the best way to go. Speaking from my own experiences with kids and ADD adults, the Double Bull is the ONLY way to go.
