There was a decent scrape in the staging area as well, and it also is within range of the white oak. Deer that have been walking the transition line are still walking into the scrape and it appears they are using the licking branches a fair amount. Here’s the scrape with hair and tracks in it:

Standing on the transition line and staring out into the bog, there wasn’t much that appeared promising while glancing over the countless willows and tag alders growing in the muck and water… that is until I focused on the only tree in the bog, a lone and mature maple standing by itself. I waded out and found a nice bed on the only high and dry spot around, with hair in it:
I prepped one other tree on the transition line where tracks and a rub headed into the bog indicated another buck route with a different wind. A lot of driving for one bedding area, but I still consider it to be worth it.
