Re: Your biggest buck from a treestand???
Mine was on the 4th sit of that stand that year with only hunting it in ideal conditions. It helped that it was a very cold late season got him on his way to food.

Re: Your biggest buck from a treestand???
My last three bucks (3 1/2y.o., 5 1/2 y.o., 3 1/2 y.o.) were all taken from pre-set stands that I had hunted multiple times throughout the season. They were all killed after november 2nd though, and I didn't recognize any of them as being resident deer. All three stands have well thought out entry/exit's too which has been huge in keeping the does unaware, which preserves these stands for good rutting movement.
Find his shed, find his bed, use your head to make him dead.

Re: Your biggest buck from a treestand???
I think most would agree that early/lull & late season reactions and results are going to be dramatically different from rut season reaction and results.
I would be interested in this poll if it were limited to just the early, late and lull phases. During rut, all bets are off and anything can happen almost anywhere, and at anytime during the day.
My best early season buck to date was taken two days into the season, close to bedding, early AM, first sit on a prehung stand.

Re: Your biggest buck from a treestand???
My biggest bow kill, a 153" gross, 13 pointer, was shot at 12 yards the first time I sat the stand that year on the evening of Oct 14th., just before quitting time. A stand has been in that tree for about 10 years.

I checked multiple hunts but it was actually the second hunt from the tree and 3 weeks after the first sit.

My biggest was the first time in, with a climber. 15 yards, and a dead 118" 3.5.

Re: Your biggest buck from a treestand???
Two years ago it was the first time hunting a stand..last year it was the same stand, but the second day hunting it..cool thing is i saw the deer i ended up shooting 2 days in a row from the same stand, but on the second day he stayed a little further out. both deer were shot with a rifle, 2008 deer at 30 yards, and 2009 at 45 yards. both would score low 100's and were both missing a few tines. first was a 3.5 and second was a 2.5yo.

Shot a 150" velvet whitetail in Manitoba 2nd sit in same tree stand - early season morning consecutive hunts
Biggest in WI with bow was a 130" 3.5 y.o. 1st sit - but it was a pre hung stand.
Missed a 140" class buck last year 2 or 3rd sit outta same big hills bench stand

Re: Your biggest buck from a treestand???
Thinking back to all the bucks I have on my wall, all of them first time sits. I've always been mobile, even before discovering this site and I contribute that to a lot of my success. Now with beast tactics involved I look to add a few more to the wall in the next few years

Re: Your biggest buck from a treestand???
First time sits but my oldest I got, I sat multiple times in the same tree. The reason being is it's a small 20 acre woodlot surrounded by open farmland. They only visited the property every so often, so I had to be there when the were in there. Certain situations are a must for multiple sits.

I voted first time sit, but it was the first time in that season not ever, and most of the bucks I have killed have been that way.

First time sit for my biggest during early season, first time sit for my biggest during rut, and second time sut for my biggest during late season.
