Opinions on topo
What are you thoughts on the three areas circled.
The green areas are thick woods.
The previling wind for early season is South.

Re: Opinions on topo
I'd say it's time to scout them out! Are those crop fields on top? You've certainly got the right prevailing wind for potential bedding on those points in the thermal tunnel zone. Knowing you, you've probably already done some recon on the area? If those points don't pan out I'd check the heads of those draws for travel and or bedding if there's good cover.

Re: Opinions on topo
I think your spots have good potential to be south wind bedding areas..
iF I was on that chunk, its where I would expect them to bed.

Re: Opinions on topo
Since the prevailing wind has been north, how difficult will it be to see the beds from last fall?
What is the best thing to look for.
HELP!!!!

Re: Opinions on topo
If you get out there sometime soon, at least before green up, I think you will have no problem seeing the beds.

ACME mapper 2.0
Its a very good site, you can switch from aerial to topo to map to terrain and so on.

Re: Opinions on topo
On the two points that I checked I found small rubs close to the ground that are healed over??????
No fresh rubs on the points, maybe some beds.
Its been awhile since we have had a south wind for very long, and there are lotsa leaves.
I will post some pics soon.

Re: Opinions on topo
Either way off one point was a scrape.
They were at the mixing elevation.
The rubs on the points were all like this.
Both rubs are less than a foot off the ground.
The last rub pic is just out of the frame of the next pic.
Thats the view from the bed if it is one.

Re: Opinions on topo
Marty,
I have found rubs similar to those you posted. I think they are lower because a buck might rub the tree while he is laying in his bed.
