Hunting Magazines

Unread postby Spysar » Sun Jan 09, 2011 11:56 pm

It seems all my hunting magazine subscriptions are up. I like to get one or two. What are the best two magazines out right now? I'm mostly interested in deer hunting stuff, but any good outdoor mag would be cool. Is there anything out there worth reading?

I like mags that concentrate only on whitetails for the most part.

North American Whitetail and Big Buck Magazines are the only 2 I get. Big Buck mag pretty much is only big buck profiles of gigantic whitetails and mulies. I'd be happy to send you an old copy if you'd like a trial.

I like North American Whitetail. I enjoy reading about the big buck stories vs. the same old crappy hunting tactics in other mags.

Deer & Deer Hunting + North American Whitetail for me

Big Buck Mag is a close 3rd, if it focused more on the States I would like it more. Mostly Canadian Deer

I like Peterson's bowhunting- really helps keep track of what's going on in the bowhunting world as a whole. Strategy wise, a good read as long as they don't lose Bill Winke.

I also like Deer and Deer hunting... truth be told I usually go to the local store that has a ton of hunting mazazines and scan their table of contents for articles by author's I have come to respect- such as Troy Spooner (publiclandhunter) or are about hunter's I can really relate to (Dan Infalt).

I get Peterson's Bowhunting and Bowhunting World..both are alright..They have a few good articles in them once in awhile, but they also have a ton of ads (but they have bills to pay too). I also go to the magazine rack once in awhile and see if any other magazines have a good article in them I would be interested in, and I just bought a Bow and Arrow magazine yesterday.

Deer and Deer hunting is pretty good too, but expensive so I have put off getting a subscription to that one, but I buy an issue every once in awhile..

I get 2 Peterson's and North American Whitetail. Like most people I only read an article or 2 that really interest me out of these magazines, but they do keep me in touch with what is going on outside of my little world. Really for me if I have a question on a tactic the BEAST web site is the place to go ;)

What I like about Big Buck magazine is that it is primarily a big buck profile magazine. There are no "how to" stories in it, and who really cares because it's been a long time since someone didn't recycle how to do anything in the hunting industry. It's only 4 issues a year but each issue is jam packed with giant deer pictures.

Hmmmm.... pretty deer pictures!

It's pretty much horn porn straight up. A lot of Canadian deer profiles but they do throw in some from the States each issue.

I get Petersen's Bowhunting, Bowhunter, Bowhunting World, North American Whitetail and Deer & Deer Hunting.
My two favorites are Petersen's Bowhunting and Bowhunting World. These two seem to have the best tech articles and how to articles for archery.

That's awesome lol!
I really like Outdoor Life and Field and Stream. I dont care about the fishing articles but I like the stories. Deer and deer hunting gets a little boring for me at times. a lot of it is really scientific and like Muddy said everything is continuously recycled. I like to hear the kill stories, and see the photos.
