Central MN public buck, I would classify this small patch of public land a high pressure area.

Northern MN remote public land. I pretty much had 3 sqaure miles all to myself, a mile of swamp to the south and east, a river on the north and west.

Joe Runde is very limited for computer time to post (can only do so when no one is watching at work!!!!) He took 3 on public land this year with 3 dog. You can see 3dogs post in the contest section as well as Joes and his also in the Buck contest sign up thread (he mistakenly posted in the wrong area and asked me to help him get it to the right place). Hopefully he can get a nice story up or e-mailed to me to post for him.

Welcome Fish!!!!!Nice 1st post!!!!!!

Shot this guy October 2nd. I went back and scouted the area this past week to see exactly where he was bedded and why he was moving where he did. I found his bed 75 yards from a parking area. he could actually see the parking area and road coming in. Interesting thing to note is that the night I hunted him a buddy dropped me off at the next parking area down and left. Not sure he was smart enough to know he was being hunted or just thought someone was turning around. Anyway I came in the back way and set up in his staging area. Between his bed and staging area where I killed him was open hardwoods but he could smell the whole hillside with the wind he had that day. Beyond the open hardwoods was an old logging road which he crossed to where I killed him. Once he crossed the logging road I followed the faint trail which I think he used all the way out to a crop field about 400 yards away. There was not another huntable tree this whole way, just scrub trees. So it was neat to go back and learn this because he did not walk by a huntable tree that he could not scent check. But the Double Bull T2 sure gave him a suprise!
