I will have to agree with you on that one. I didn't purchase my family's land myself cause I'm only 18, but I know they would all agree with me on saying our land was well worth it. My parent's and aunt & uncle bought it before they had kids and we used QDM and now we have the best hunting in the area!

Having relocated to MN from IN last year, my best purchase in the last year has been gas for driving around to scout. Probably about $500 worth. But I now know a whole lot more about where to focus and where I'd be wasting my time.

One of my better tools is my clippers. I don't remember the brand, but I can figure it out if anyone cares. These clippers allow me to trim the good sized branches around me without the loud sound of sawing a branch. If I really need the saw, a 5 incher flips out of the handle for bigger branches. Its quite and compact and used on most hunts.

Hill Country and Marsh Bucks changed how I hunt.

Hoyt Cybertech is 11 years old. I've got no plans to upgrade...

Dans dvds marsh and hill country. I paid twenty but after watching its almost priceless information. Really liking my gps almost 2 years in. You start to get so many spots it really helps me with having that in a small unit right in my pocket.

My computer and internet connection? I learned a ton back in the day when I first found the old BloodBrothers site when Dan was still on there. Then I bought the DVDs, and have a constant access to a wealth of knowledge here.

I owe several of the deer I've taken over the past couple years in large part to having my GPS. Being able to draw up a "going in blind" route on the computer, transferring it to the GPS along with Bing Bird's Eye and topo lines, is an awesome tool. The buck in my avatar picture I shot after studying topo lines on the GPS in the stand after a weather switch, and making a move midday. Not to mention, that little piece of equipment has gotten me out of some sticky situations in river bottoms in the dark.

My kayaks, while they were originally purchased for fishing and drinking beer, they have allowed :D me to access so much more ground for deer hunting and then add in floating the river for squirrels, ducks and geese, oh and fishing and still a few beers every now and then.

SB, what did you learn that you didn't already know? I know I learned a lot but I had been out of the game for quite a while and back in only a couple years prior to seeing them so they were very helpful to me.....I am curious to see what more experienced hunters got out of them that they didn't already know.

Thinking about this the internet has been HUGE for me!!! Finding the beast, learning everything I could about deer, finding and scouting public land. There is a crazy wealth of information out there (not just hunting) and I have soaked up a lot of it!
