Do you stop the deer, or not ?

Not sure if this has been covered before or not on this forum, but I was just wondering if you guys stop deer before you shoot them ? I mean, lets say a buck comes walking right into your shooting lane just perfect, but it doesn't look like he's going to stop and mill around... And lets just say he's about 20 yards away... Do you do the fake little fawn bleep or something to stop him ( risking him being on alert ), or do you shoot him as he is walking in stride ?
I have only shot a few deer with the bow so far, and I was fortunate enough that they all stopped and milled around in front of me, so I didn't have to make that decision..
What do you guys and gals do ?

most times I give the slightest "baap" that usually does the trick.

Depends on the situation. At 20 yards... usually not unless the shooting lane is a small one. Out past 25-30 yards I will always try to stop them.

Situation dependent, If Im stopping one I mouth bleat as soft as possible and get a little louder untill he stops. You have to be careful putting deer on alert, and the chances of them duckin the arrow increase a lot with farther distances.

I only stop them if they are running, shooting lanes are tight, or some other reason warrants it. I have no problem shooting walking deer.

Another vote for when the situation dictates I try to stop them, otherwise I grease them moving.

I personally always try to stop them. I have made a few not so great shots on moving deer even moving slowly for me to feel confident. I have shot them a little far forward in the shoulder and a little back both. Thank God I haven't lost any, but close. If you can consistently make those shots no problem, for me, I just have to stop them.

I actually do worse on the ones that I stop. Mostly because you put them on high alert and they jump the string.

I don't make a sound and have shot a good number of deer on a walk. A few I've shot In a slow trot as well. I don't want to put these deer on alert. Too many times I've heard the story's from people mahing and the next thing you know they shoot high or miss from the deer ducking.

If broadside,middle/lower shoulder til it feels right. Really depends on deer's angle on the approach. 20yds or closer you aren't really having to"lead" or aim ahead much if any.

I stop them in tight lanes if need be, but close deer just get the hammer as they move by.

i usually always stop a deer...i dont wanna take that chance at a walking shot...if i happen to stop a deer and it seems nervous...i will always aim a little low so it doesnt duck my arrow
