Milkweed..

Unread postby cornfedkiller » Tue Oct 19, 2010 5:45 am

Just curious what you guys use for holding your milkweed silk?

I just came up with this idea a few weeks ago, and I must admit, it works pretty dang good! Thought I would share in case any one else was looking for ideas..Let me know what you guys use..

Its a prescription pill bottle (my buddy uses an old advil bottle) with about a 1/8" hole drilled in the cover. Comes out of there just like a kleenex..

I actually use the pods...Nature made a pretty decent holder. I can reach in and grab one seed at a time.

I use the pod. I put one in a pocket on my HSS vest.

Old fashioned plastic coin purse. It's always in my back pocket.

These things work great! Note that when your hands are clammy or moist, the little buggers tend to stick all over the place. Had that problem using them to show the wind on film this past Saturday. Still, these are the best wind exploiters out there!

Getting back to the pill bottle dispenser... How do you get them to keep coming out of the top?

Good idea, will have to try this as all my pods opened up on my dashboard and I am constantly checking the wind while the defrost is on....... :?

If you pull from the top of the fluff sticking out, it only pulls a few silk fibers so you can float them away, but if you pull from the bottom of the fluff near the cover, it pulls more out, then you just grab some off the top.

I made the hole large enough so its not TOO difficult to feed it back through if I would need to. Granted I have only used this for a weekend, but I never had it stop coming out of there..I might run into problems down the road, but only time will tell..
