The story starts last spring when I found this bucks bed on a west facing slope. It was a large bed and had one hip high rub next to it. The funny thing is that the bed was only 10 yards from our foodplot. I figured what he was doing was watching the 4 wheeler trail where we come in to hunt on. He can clearly see the stand from his bed as well. He has thick brush around him. My dad hunted Sunday morning down below the bed about 100 yards away and saw this buck walk back to his bed at 8:15 am. I told him about where his bed was so my dad set up on top of the ridge on the foodplot that evening, this buck has multiple beds on this point and I figured with the prevailing wind he would be set up in a different bed on that same point where he cant see the stand or 4 wheeler trail. We were right on. He ended up coming out 20 minutes before dark and thrashed around his antlers in some brush then came to work a scrape 14 yards from my dads stand. He put the arrow right into his heart, he ran 60 yards and died right on the 4 wheeler trail. Im very happy for my dad becuase he has been hunting since the early 1970's and has never shot a big buck with gun or bow. He has had so many close calls and missed many but now finally he got his trophy buck.
