How many Years?

How about it, how many years have you hunted public land? Is it mostly high or low pressure, both or somewhere in the middle?

22 years for me! HIGH PRESSURE since it is the closest big chunk of public woods from Green Bay! I love it though ;)

Ive been hunting NW WI for about 15 years, first bow season pressure is minimal until two weeks before gun and then all the corn haulers head up. :D Gun season isnt the worst if your willing to walk, muzzleloader is startn to get to be more popular but you still have alot of ground to yourself and second season bow is awesome. No people and if weather conditions are right it sure can be a blast.

I would agree with Chad. Early Bow season there are not many hunters by us at all. Nobody hunts mornings!! Come rut time though the masterbaiters start coming up with their four wheelers and dumping their piles and hanging their ribbons  I can't complain to much though ;) Late bow season is awesome if you can get away from the few people still dumping corn

I've been hunting public land in Michigan for 33 years, including the UP for 25. Around home the public is high pressure (lower peninsula).

Prob around five years, but rarely hunt public unless a buddy wants me to take them out. I have a lot of private to hunt, going to start looking for some new land over my spring break.

Wow! Seems like forever....20-years! In southwest Michigan I would have to say it is all what I would class as heavily-hunted. The wilderness areas of Canada and the U.P. are more pocketed areas of pressure - Low to mild pressure.

So far, over 60 percent of us that responded have hunted public for 15 years or more! That's what's great about the Beast, serious hunters with serious tactics to share and compare. 8-)

hunting consist in my great state of Wisconsin. *Please dont include the governer in this*

Been hunting MI since 1990, when I moved here. Lots of opportunity and lots of pressure-everywhere.

I have never bagged anything huge, but I have hunted more areas in MI than a cheetah has spots.

Anyway, have weapon will travel. If you are ever hungry call me.

Shot my first deer ever on public land in September, 1980. I still hunt the same area. When I first started there was almost no pressure. I rarely saw anyone out, including gun hunters. Last 10 years have been horrible with the pressure of bowhunters, gun hunters and then muzzleloaders. But I have adapted and have actually had very good success working a little harder and getting into the hard to reach areas.

Jack,

Good to see you used the other hunters to your advantage! There are some folks who never figure that out and eventually just throw in the towel and give up. Never say Die!
