Mini Water Holes

Unread postby Black Squirrel » Sun Aug 22, 2010 12:45 am

Here are two water holes I put in this past spring on our hill country land. It was a good year for these, as they filled up fast. They are just 55 gal plastic barrels, cut in half length wise. They are postioned, at the 1/3 level up th ridge, about 100 yards form some bedding areas. I hope that a buck, will want to visit early season, when its hot, on his way to feed in the evening. These pictures were took July 31.

Did you have buck or deer sign around them when you visited them?

Dan and ramblinman took my questions, but I too am interested in hearing if they're working for you.

I wouldn't put a camera on a water hole that is intended as a kill spot...

One of them had tracks all around and was getting used, the other one did not appear to be used yet. I have not put a camera over them, as I plan to hunt them early season.

I am interested to hear if you have success as well. The only concern I would have is their preference of stagnant water...lol Keep us posted buddy.
