Weird

Unread postby Sam Ubl » Tue Aug 03, 2010 4:44 am

Everything my Moutrie Game Spy I40 takes a picture of is crystal clear and it shoots pics at a FAR distance... Why when the buck I was waiting for walks past does he lose a leg and all his tines?

LOL, if I zoom WAY in and study it, I can see the ghostly faint outline of his leg and his tines. He's a tall 10 I passed on last year and I'm glad I did because he grew 8-)

Unfortunately, this picture makes him look like a train wreck. Even his main beams look whacked out:( Not so in real life, though. Da$# you Moultrie - just kidding, I love you, I'm just a little mad at you is all.

I've had bad luck with moultries myself. They work great on scrapes or mineral licks much better. Nice looking buck

I agree with Forge hunter, and the fact that he was moving, causing the blurr, probably at a fast walking pace when the picture was snapped. Good deer though, good luck with him!

unfortunately all trail cams take blurry pics when animals are moving. Some are less blurry then others depending on shutter speed. If you have a burst mode you may try that as it could possibly yield at least one pic. The other options is an upgraded camera. We have had pretty good luck with the Bushnell Trophy Cam and if you are wanting something more you may consider the Reconyx cameras. I do not have any experience with any other cams such as the predators as Dan sells here so I don't feel authorized to comment on any other brand. Sorry that is the best I can do for ya.

Moultries have a tendency to take blurry photos of moving deer. I know, I own 3 of the I-40's. I still love the cameras. Excellent battery life and they are cheap compared to most other supposedly "high end" cameras. 2 of my LED readout on my cameras quit working last year and I sent them in and got them fixed for FREE after about 3 years of owning them. I paid to ship them there, Moultrie fixed them free and shipped them back for free. 8-)

A buddy at work has a Cuddeback that is broke. His wife bought it for him last Christmas. A mear $120 to look at it they told him plus $20-something to ship it to them.

Use your video mode if you are placing the camera in a walking area of those deer. The video will be fine. 8-)

This particular camera was $229 new and I thought I'd get a lot more out of it. . . After year one, the computer screen bar started working intermittently, and when it doesn't feel like working, it flashes upside down question marks and all sorts of weird stuff. That said, it WAS working good working good when I placed it, but the batteries still have lots of life in it and the screen isn't working... Point is, now I can't figure out the video mode because I can't see what the screen is telling me. I only know it's ready to take pictures by the yellow flashing light that blinks a couple times when it's ready.

Bummer. Super bad luck with camera's... I bought the Bushnell digital no flash with video capabilities three years ago and that thing broke in the first two weeks... Checked it and the battery acid had leaked all over and every bit of metal in there became corroded:( I never did send it in either, just put it in a box and forgot about it. They said I had to pay if I sent it in... By this time it was over a year old with no reciept any longer!

Next camera? Reconyx
