I was out rabbit hunting and saw tons of fresh coyote sign and decided to go back tonight and see if any would come in. I found a spot that would blow my scent out over an open field allowing me to shoot anything that circled in from down wind. I put my Johnny Stewert call about 50 feet up wind of my set up and got my back against a large tree. I hit the remote and turned on the rabbit squealer. I was still positioning myself and looked up and the whole field was full of coyotes running right at me! One of them was coming straight at me at close range so I pounded him 1st. The 30-06 hit him hard and he jumped up in the air and hit the ground still running. One more hit thru the chest as he turned to run took him out. I turned the gun on a big yote that was high tailing it for the timber but I missed him.
If you look at the tracks you can see where he got hit as he turned to run on the second shot. You can also see where the 1st bullet went thru him and hit the snow behind.
Coyote hunt!

Nice Dan! Congrats. What bullets do you shoot in your 06 for yotes?
