Having recently moved to Fl.,and having no success stand hunting ( public land) I told my son we need to get some dogs. My father in-law, a big coyote man, helped us get 2 catahola (spelling?) and gave us tracking collars. Ok, how do we train them and how do we hunt them? I built a nice large pen that has a big run separated from the smaller one. Can I pitch a young in there now n then ? We're in the Jax, Fl area if anyone knows someone we can learn from?

He posted on the welcome page so maybe he will here as well. Dad on-law has always had running walkers and I went a few times- a little boring for a young man. He got me deer hunting and I dived in headlong, that was 35 years ago. I've never deer hunted with dogs either but it's legal here in Fl.

I have no experience running or training dogs. My dogs don't even listen to me in my house I can't imagine letting them loose in the woods...
You should be able to search the internet and find some useful information. Finding someone local would be a big help too.

I use to do that with rabbits and beagle pups. I don't know how it would be with hogs. The internet should be able to provide you with some kind of process with training.

Check out aldeer.com, it a site out of Alabama but there are a whole bunch of guys on there in the Hog forum that hunt with dogs and they have been very helpful when I've asked about hog hunting.
