First 300+ lb Hog This Year

Unread postby Double Naught Spy » Sun Sep 11, 2022 4:30 pm

Okay, that is really misleading, but meant to be wishful thinking. I haven't seen a 300 pounder in years. In fact, with the drought and all the hunting, I haven't seen any hogs over 200 lbs in months. Finally, the rains made it back to the area and we are seeing hogs more often, but still pretty much everything on the small side until last week.

Ben and I came across a sounder I had seen a couple of night's prior, so secured permission to hunt the property. All I believed, initially, was that there was one large sow and a bunch of her offspring and I figured from a few hundred yards away that she wasn't over 200 lbs, LOL. Turned out to be a 330 lb boar with a sounder of various sizes of hogs, but apparently the rest being under 150 lbs. Ben was going to take the big boar and I was happy taking the rest. It didn't exactly turn out that way, but in the end, we had 6 down, including the big boar.

You dont eat that.

You drag that off with the tractor and use it for yote bait.

The smell that comes off a freshly killed one is bad enough to make you want to burn your clothes.
