How Many Turkeys Have You Killed With A Bow?

Unread postby Spysar » Thu Apr 01, 2010 10:58 am

Excluding fall turkeys killed while deer hunting, how many turkeys have you killed with a bow? I'm talking about any time you set out to kill a turkey and did it with a bow.

A buck will see you three times, and hear you twice, but he's only gonna smell you once.

0... I can't stand sitting in a tent waiting for them to come to me. I have attempted Run & Gun with the bow, and have had several turkeys loose a feather or two, but crawling across a field and hiding behind a rock on your belly seem to work better with the shotgun... I do believe I am again going to get the bow out and try run and gun with the bow again this spring though...

5 with the bow. One of these was a fall turkey, but he was my target...not while deer hunting. Sometimes I wish we had a two bird limit here in MI, but just being able to shoot one keeps the quality of the hunt there!

Looks like Muddy has this catagory covered! I think I counted twelve! Nice.

I forgot to say I had seven, with a five year streak going. Hope I didn't jinx myself opening a thread like this.

I started straight bowhunting them the spring of '96. It took me 3 years to get my first one, but after that it's been "easy" since that's when I embraced the DoubleBull Blind! I think I've killed 12 in my Matrix and another 5 or 6 with my old blinds. I am very surprised there were no comments on my sweet shorts!

Maybe a dozen - more than half of which I took in fall from tree stand while bow hunting deer.. . Always carry that extra turkey arrow.

Three, all fall birds, all Merriams in North Dakota. Was on a bow only ranch for a few years and had already filled my deer tags so I hunted gobblers. Killed two of those in the snow, one when it was -4 degrees!

1 fall bird. I was actually turkey hunting though. Last spring I called in and shot a big tom from behind a boulder. But the shot hit a little too far back and he took off with my arrow in him. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to recover him. But it was my most exciting turkey hunt to date. Talked to that bird for 3 hours!
