Unread postby Mike Foss » Thu May 05, 2011 10:25 pm

Im headed off to Pine Ridge Nebraska today for a 10 day turkey hunt :D . I will be hunting with 2 other cheeseheads, 1 minnasotin, 2 from Utah and 1 other from Nebraska. We will be tenting it on public hunting grounds. Returning around the 14th then I have 2 tags for the last season here in Wisconsin then I will be archery hunting the last season in Minnesota. I hope it warms up  Will post how we do out in NE.

Good luck!! I bow hunted for Muley's very close to there near Crawford. Isn't Pine Ridge actually right on the border in South Dakota? That's a really cool area and looking forward to some pictures!!

Im Back. Ever not take a shower for 10 days with 3 other hunters staying in the same outfitter tent  The country was big, beautiful and rough. Talk about spot-N-stalk, there were 7 hunters in camp, not one bird was shot by calling or with decoys, what a different type of Turkey hunt, what a different type of turkey. Its a nice place to visit but I wouldnt want to live there. Opening morning I sat in my blind, after leaving my blind to chase down a turkey I returned "I should have listened to my friend, he said, dont use a blind" only to find my blind was blown a 1/2 mile down this open meadow. It took me 4 days to figure out that these birds are different than the easterns I am used to hunting. Dont ever go without a hand held GPS in these areas. To make a long story short I was the only one not to kill a bird, I tryed hard, put on miles after miles without success, but thats hunting. I did manage to find 6 sheds and had a great time. I will send Dan pictures to post.
